ISLAM

ITS MEANING AND ESSENCE

The lexical meaning of Islam is submission and adherence to the command of Allah without objection. By adding in observance to His command, the Muslim would find peace and Harmony with the “universe” in which he lives, for everything in this universe abides by the commands of Allah.

The belief in the Almighty Allah and life after death is impervious and unchanged. Evident of His existence is the question of what then alone is man. In deducing man, affirms, denies, some innate, including the idea of Allah-the Almighty. Such ideas can not be assumed to be pure nothingness. In meditation, it can not be fabricated by human mind. They are by nature, inherently true and immutable, and caused by thing its self, as we refer to as the uncalled cause (Allah). Thus, idea of Allah must have arisen from Allah Himself, and Allah

Therefore, must exist.

By this point, man is existed and the physical world. Not only does man exist as a “thinking thing”, but that within himself that thinks-His soul or mind (spirit)-exists separately from the unthinking thing that harbors it, the body. So, we maintain the purification of oneself in preparation for ones Rubb, upon death in facing Allah who had created us pure in the countering of evil.

It is an established fact that everything in this universe follows certain rule and unalterable law to which it submits; the sun, the moon, the stars, the nights, the days, the lands, the trees and the animals all submits to a rule of law which Allah, the creator, has designated for all these things.

Even man himself, when you consider his physical construction and biological, his need for water, nutrition, heat, air, light, rest and sleep, you would find him submitting to a law or rule under which he has no choice and just like other creatures.

This inclusive law or rule  to which everything submits is the work of Allah to whom belong the creation and authority. Both upper and lower worlds submits willingly to the capable creator by whom everything is dependent upon.

The fact that the linguistic closet meaning of Islam is submission and adherence (denotes peace) without objection, Islam from this point is the faith of the universe. Man in this sense, does not differ from other creatures. Since Allah is the creator and provider, He has given man the freedom of choice and shown man both the path of guidance through His messengers that He sent to mankind throughout the ages; the last and seal of whom was Muhammad and Peace be upon them all.

Therefore, one who chooses the path of guidance in his own free will and fulfills the duties with which he is charged, and refrains from the prohibitions, he then is a Muslim. As for one who chooses the path of deviation, neglecting the acts of worships and committing the prohibitions, he is then an unbeliever.

Based on this gift that Allah has granted man; which is one of the greatest, i.e., the freedom of choiced, and after subjugating for man the lands, the seas, the night and the day, Allah has commanded man to worship Allah alone. Forbidding man to ascribe partners to Allah, and has promised man, in return, great rewards for man’s obedience and adherents.

Among the promised rewards are the allowing of man to benefit from Allah’s creation that are all over scattered throughout this universe proving the fact that Allah deserves to be worshipped. Man is provided the ability to lead a fear-free life in this world and render sound his state of affairs. Muhammad (Salailahu-Ailai Wassalam) said; “How wonderful is the believer’s state of affairs”. If a believer encounters pleasant circumstances, he is in gratitude to Allah showing it through his actions to others. And if experiences are of distressing situations, he would endure it patiently, and it would be good for him as applicable to the believer.

The believer knows that his primary duty in this physical world is the worship to Allah alone and not to his Messengers – they are only revered and venerated. Allah has created the Jiin and man in the performance of their primary duty and duties amongst each other’s and in the countering of evil (the evil-devil) in this world, created by the expulsion of the fallen angel from paradise. Allah does not seek provisions from them, nor does Allah ask that they feed him (Allah). It is Allah who is the provider, the most powerful and omnipotent.

The believer knows that he came into existence by the word of Allah who created him, cherished him and bestowed upon him Allah’s favors, the seen and the unseen thereof, and Allah has subjected everything for him – Allah said:

(Do you not see that have subjected for you what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, and have been bestowed amply upon your apparent and hidden graces).

Allah is the one who has created the heavens and the earth, and who sends down water from the sky (its process of water vaporing from the sun’s heat culminated into clouds, and as it cools, denses into water falling into the earth as rain.) Muhammad (peace be upon Him) had explained that process in the Holy Qur’an way before modern sciences have discovered. And Allah brought forth thereby fruits as provisions for his creatures and things on the earth good for his creatures. It is subjected all upon his creatures and up to his creatures the good use for it all.

The Muslim leads his life knowing that his world is not permanent, rather a starting point of man’s duties to Allah, a race to win the pleasure of Allah in the countering of evil – by just doing good.

The believer also knows that he will finally meet his judgement on the day of requital for his actions and performance of his duties to Allah. Thus, Muslims solemn in nature, prepares for this rubb or judgement.

Consequently, the Muslim is content with whatever means of subsistence that become available for him in this world, knowing that such means, whether elaborate or not, are only temporal pleasures.

To gain Allah’s pleasure means never to return to the physical realm, but with Allah, disseminating His graces to the deserving man. And if man knows what is in another man’s mind, unless the latter expresses verbally, then he would be able to learn Allah’s intention.

Nabi Muhammad (peace be upon him), his descendants (some knowledgeable) have basically the same veracity – truthfulness and nobleness in words and actions making the most Nobliest of mankind. Thus, its peoples named them a race to differentiate them, their words and actions, such as the Pihak Lapakanun, and some other in Royalty. In that belief, man is tasked with that positive responsibility, and to refrain from any abuse and prohibitions as examples to his fellowmen as “Shadows of Allah”.

Do not think solely nor seek solely anything for their personal needful gain, but rather for others benefits, forewarning of harm that may come. Reporting upon their people about the unseen world, which hardly anyone can conceive, and yet its reality is always verified or confirmed by their statements.

They do not seek the philosophy of “I, myself and me” or grasping of attention into self centeredness, but do and act as simply to others; even prior to the given graces of Allah.

Supported by miraculous signs, his people could not challenge nor match; as Noah was not challenge nor killed by some of his people who had Dissent him although living with them without guards and surrounded by the disbeliever’s hatred.

Muhammad (peace be upon him) received the miraculous sign of the great Holy Qur’an bearing in mind that he was illiterate and did not study under the instruction of any person; yet, he has produced a book (the Holy Qur’an) as whole, with ten chapters the like thereof, than his people were unable to produce.

Challenged to produce even a single chapter similar to that in the Holy Qur’an, but failed to meet the challenge; never will anyone be able to do so. In the Holy Qur’an or called by the Americans in 1898 “The Moro Bible”, Allah had said, “if mankind and the Jiin (so-called angels or souls fallen from heaven, reason of the universe of being created, and to served man in their quest to return to Allah, the Resurrection of body and soul) gathered together to produce the like of the Holy Qur’an, they would never be able to do so, even if they helped each other”.

Allah sent a messenger to every nation and supported him with a miracle that suited the nature of His people. And since Allah sent every messenger with a message concerning that particular nation, and because those messages were not final or permanent, those messages faded away along with those Nations to whom they were sent, such as; the Nation of Babel, Antioch and many others.

Islam consists of rites and actions fulfilled by man out of obedience to Allah and in conformity with the message given to His messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon Him), in the countering of the evil (D-evil) in this Universe that was created as by the rebellion of fallen angels.

Muhammad’s set of laws concluded all previous divine laws as of Allah’s final and permanent legislation. These laws expresses the faith (iman) in the heart of the believer, for whatever is based on faith, certainty (externally or internally) is the true deen and essence of Islam. Islam is the means by which man acquires the pleasure of His Rubb, and of His creator, and the means of salvation that delivers Him from torment on the day of resurrection, if not shortly after death , be judged and placement at the day of Judgement.

With adherence to the prophethood of Muhammad (Salailahu Alaihi Wasallam) as bestowed upon Him by Allah, man may find salvation and redemption. Even Jesus was a prophet of Islam, whose message was peace (Islam).

If only non-Muslims and particularly Christians had some knowledge of the Islamic faith, together with a realistic understanding of Jesus, a great deal of unnecessary distress could be avoided in the future. There will be no national boundaries so far as the happiness and well-being of people be concern. Inter-cultural ignorance is the greatest single cause of today’s suffering and hardship.

His Highness, primarily convey to the western worlds and to non-Muslims, but also for all who seek enlightment among the tangle of conflicting ideas surrounding the birth of Jesus, His mission and His death. The confusion is caused by two dogmas which defy rational explanation, the supposed divinity of Jesus and the trinity. The Christian Church leans and shows Jesus as the highly orthodox (Pro) Jew, he actually was; as a teacher of the Unitarian faith sent as a messenger by Allah to destroy those base elements which had grown to such enormous proportions within the Jewish priesthood and resulting to his supposed Crucifixion and death, as by the Esseness, and inherently in the instilling of the separation of Religion and Government. The establishing of a new and different religion 325 years later in the Council of Nicea proclaiming the divinity of Jesus (Isaah) and the Trinity by St. Paul (King Saul of Antoich) and other followers.

His Highness does not wish to introduce a synopsis of His publication which stands entirely on its own. It is, but a single part of His Highness overall desire to help non-Muslims towards the truth and to lessen the superstitious fear of Islam held by most Christians that have a tendency to instill prejudicial and discriminatory attitude towards Muslims.

We, as Muslims, know how baseless these fears. We are secure in our knowledge of Allah as the one and all merciful, all beneficent to man; untouchable by human qualifications: “there is nothing like unto Him, and He is the all-hearing, the all-seeing” (Qur’an; XLII:II). We are secure in the knowledge of His prophets, may peace be upon them; secure in the knowledge they have given us of Allah and His covenant for us on earth. Muslims following the unchanging completeness of the Holy Qur’an know all these. But perhaps fail at times to make it obvious to others.

His Highness, the Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo-Sabah, from the depths of His great sympathy for some people (Muslims and non-Muslims), especially those less fortunate than Himself, aware of such failure in communication and of understanding, and His Highness is aware of a great deal of regional tradition which have grownup within Islam; tradition capable of confusing those looking at us across the fence of fear, even causing confusion and misunderstandings between Muslims of different Nations and countries, with some resulting to terrorism.

Only great and persevering determination, and great sympathy, can bring true brotherhood and understanding between these Nations; and either Muslims alike and/or non-Muslims with fear of the unknown is the only obstacle. Many of our Muslims looking at (modern lifestyles) westward at the lost of moral values and principles feel it should be a simple matter to introduce Islam into the spiritual vacuum. But such hopes are like talking to walls.

Mass education of the people necessary for the growth of western technology and industry has shown those people all too clearly that religion, as they know it, is based on dogmas which defy rational explanation and/or unsupported by fact. It is a wonder why these intellectual elites of this industrial society were the first to withdraw their support of religious institution/s. Institution/s interrelated to their principles and values, finding a great sense of freedom in their new-found independence from the monopolistic priesthood which had contained the spread of education over the centuries.

Religion, whatever its name for such people, is seen not only as out-dated superstition, but as a restriction and hindrance to further scientific knowledge. Muslims are not used to such interference between themselves and Allah; certainly do not appreciate that. To non-Muslims, the loss of faith is somewhat merely dropping man-made philosophy which in the past had some conveniences as a method of expediency in maintaining law and order. Before Islam can fill the spiritual vacuum, these now purely materialistic people have to be convinced of the actuality of Allah and that knowledge of Him does not depend on the acceptance of the priestly hierarchy they have disposed. They also have to be given a new image, by example, of Muslim peoples.

If the Islamic countries had not, “almost overnight” gained great riches, the western world would have retained its ignorance of Islam for a longer time and a great deal longer. As it is all of Europe (including Russia) and America are suddenly faced, with not only a faith they know nothing, but a faith backed by the one commodity they recognize-money, in enormous quantities. And that means power, the power to overcome.

Presently, it is not surprising that there is a very real fear of this power. It has been a long time since the Muslim (Eastern) world held a monopoly of scientific knowledge, and it is long forgotten by the western world. But however, western technology is based upon that Eastern science.

Muslim Nations have recently, in the past decades, found true nationhood: Pakistan has, as part of the sub-continent, been kept in subjugation by the strength of western industrial power/s until some years ago. But examples of Muslims should not be of retaliation nor abuses and showing the West of any possibility of overwhelmingly undermining their society, that society that first walked on the moon with its first step for mankind and that acts as the policeman of the world helping and assisting different countries; the West having fought so hard to free themselves and their country, from the domination and jurisdiction of the roman clergy, replacing these by civil government and civil law. Those peoples born in Christian lands are now seeing the possibility of that said freedom (by said intellectual elites) being swept away. Evident in America resulting to the fastest growing “Balik-Islam” or so-called converts to Islam. The U.S. Congress begins session with an American Imam Ul-Alam with the preliminary statement of “Bismillahir Rahman-Niraheem”.

Unless Islamic scholarship, such as this work of His Highness, directed with loving care for peoples, creates good climate of close communication with the West, the only conflict that might arise from that fear is of having ignorance of Islam and its Muslim peoples. So, Islamic countries and its Muslims especially those with so much financial power, should have an enormous responsibility of example to be set.

Hopefully, the proliferation and growth of State universities and cultural centers, and of the West, as well, as the Muslim world itself will make greater opportunities available for serious and constructive Islamic research, and scholarships, and allowing these fears to recede gradually. Insha’Allah.

We, as Muslims, know that all will follow the pattern and will of Allah. But it does not mean that we sit back in complacency; just to be accepted by reacting in Kaffiric ways will not do. Keep in mind that we have the great gift of the example of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) and the unchanging (unadulterated) instruction and inspiration of the Holy Qur’an to guide us. And we must work to the will of Allah from that clear instruction as written in the Qur’an, if we are to truly attain peace in this life and His most favorable reward in the next. Evident of Dar Ul-Islam (abode of peace) in the Sulu Sultanate (its Sovereignty based on its Religion-Islam and not by terror or war) until the encroachment and the coming of foreign powers with undermining veracity.

First of all, believe that Allah is one and that He created man and Jiin, the latter to served and help man, for both their salvation in man’s goodness. Created and organized them out of what do not exist, made all things to be. Allah did so, for the fallen Angels and of man’s good actions to absolve them back to Allah along with their counterpart, man. This explains the concept of why there is resurrection for both body and soul. However, Allah knows better.

My friends, religious leaders and all Muslim umma/s, Ensue the discipline of Nabi prophet Muhammad (Sallahlahu-Allahi Wassalam) from Allah. We are Muslims solemn in nature to Allah, for Allah and for each other
